My Day At the Rink

Do you enjoy the cold, Claudette? Are you getting used to HOT weather? Do you cringe at the idea of snow and ice and can't stand being cold? Well, me too. So the humans decided to take me to the ice rink today to watch one of the mini humans practice her jumps. Thankfully they didn't take me out on the ice, but could they have bothered to bring a jacket for me? NO!
After cheering on the little athlete, I got to rest on her Zuca bag. Now that's an interesting bag. It's on wheels that light up when it rolls. There are pockets everywhere and a huge space for her skates, tights, boot covers, extra clothing, skate guards, and even a small lunch. I saw skaters everywhere rolling them around and the top makes a great seat. Skaters can sit to lace up skates, or like me they can rest and try to warm up!
The other mini-human snuck a Felicity book in the bag, which she attempted to read to me but the sound of music and shouting and scraping ice drowned out her tiny little voice.
Here I am attempting to climb in the bag to get warm!

After her 30 minute lesson I was strapped into the warm car once again and you can tell by the smile on my face that I was pretty happy. Next time I'm packing a warm coat and gloves!

Love,
Lucie

Notre Jour Au Festival

Bonjour ma petite soeur!

Vendredi: We went to the Fair (nous sommes allés au festival)!!

So here's the problem: Lucie decided to stay home because she wanted to watch the World Cup. I had a book to finish ("Sweetwater" by Roxana Robinson - good read) but they didn't care. The humans strapped me into the car anyway and we arrived late morning at the fair. The weather was good - not too hot - but one of the humans forgot to apply sunscreen to her chest and she ended the day with a nice bright red sunburn.

The smells. First we visited the farm section. I got to see les vaches et les moutons, and smell them too. Les vaches (the cows) were just standing around looking bored. Les moutons (the sheep) were adorable and we got to see one being sheared. It handled it better than our cat handles being picked up and brushed.

The mini humans went on rides, but I was too short to meet the minimum height requirements (sadly). I wouldn't have tried anyway because I would have probably been thrown clear of the roller coaster. We tried fried s'mores and fried Snickers, and fried Twinkies. One mini person ate a "bean cone" - a corn tortilla shaped like an ice cream cone, filled with pinto beans. Have you seen those in Mexico, Claudette?

The mini munchkins went on the tilt-a-whirl which won the prize as "favorite ride of the day". They went on a haunted house ride that lasted a grand total of 25 seconds and was deemed "worst ride of the day". The tea cups were a hit, as was the log ride.

After an hour of shopping and a last stop for cotton candy, we all limped back to the car and drove home, only to collapse from exhaustion. I'll try to post pictures of our day very soon. In the meantime I give you a picture of me in my new sundress.

Love, Juliette
